All applicants for Fall 2024 should follow these application procedures
Take the Law School Admission Test LSAT or the Graduate Records Exam GRE no later than January 31 2024 if applying regular decision Note the cut off dates for the LSAT and GRE are different for students applying Early Decision for the Distinguished Scholars Award and for the Achievement Fellowship see below Complete information regarding the Standardized Test Requirement is below
Register with LSACs Credential Assembly Service CAS
Submit the following
Completed application
Personal statement use an electronic attachment
Separate essay not to exceed two double spaced typed pages
No less than 11point font
Discuss any matters relevant to your ability to succeed in law school and the practice of law and any attributes experiences or interests that would enable you to make a distinctive contribution to UCLA Law or the legal profession
Current resume use an electronic attachment
Two letters of recommendation no more than two submitted through the LSAC Letter of Recommendation Service are required
Official transcripts sent directly to LSAC Applicants should not wait for fall grades before sending transcripts to LSAC However applicants must submit work completed after the initial registration to LSAC as updated reports will be forwarded to the Law School Admissions Office Accepted applicants will be required to have their undergraduate institution submit directly to UCLA School of Law a final transcript showing the award of a baccalaureate degree before classes begin in the fall semester.
The general requirement for admission for a US student is a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution comparable in standard and content to a bachelors degree from the University of California Graduate admission through the regular process requires an overall scholastic average including any postbaccalaureate study of B 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or better or its equivalent if the letter grade system is not used.

The Indian Law area of focus comprises courses focusing on federal Indian law and tribal legal systems to cultural property law. A renowned resource in support of Native Nations, UCLA Law's Native Nations Law & Policy Center advances Indian nations laws and institutions while promoting cultural resource protections.The Tribal Legal Development Clinic connects law students directly with tribal leaders, officers, and attorneys, to provide legal development services to Indian tribes. The clinic hosts non-litigation, tribally-driven projects that cover a wide cross-section of subjects. Students work in teams, consult regularly with the tribal liaison, and produce a work product under the supervision of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Tribal Legal Development Clinic Director.<br><br>UCLA Law and UCLA's Interdepartmental Program in American Indian Studies offer a four-year joint degree program of study that is designed to produce law graduates with a rich understanding of tribal cultures that will increase their legal understanding, facilitate their practice in the field of Indian law and enhance their service to Indian nations. Legal study will include relevant tribal, United States and international law.
