To pursue a dual degree, students must be accepted by both colleges and satisfy the curriculum requirements for both programs.
GRE is required for M.C.R.P.
Current J.D. students must apply for the dual degree and M.C.R.P. admission before the beginning of their third-year of law school.
Current M.C.R.P. students must apply for the dual degree and J.D. admission before their second year of M.C.R.P. study.
Non-native speakers of English are required to demonstrate English proficiency. This requirement can be met in the following ways:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL including the special home edition)
International Language Testing System (IELTS)
Documentation that the baccalaureate or a prior graduate degree was obtained in an English-speaking country
Completion of a University System of Georgia approved ESL program (case-by-case basis)

The Juris Doctor and Master of City and Regional Planning dual degree program is offered by the College of Law and the College of Design at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Students take courses with faculty conducting research in the Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth and the Georgia Tech School of City and Regional Planning. Attorneys with expertise in land use, local government, urban planning, real estate development, and environmental law are in high demand as communities strive to be equitable, sustainable and inclusive. From rezonings to rebuilding after natural disasters, lawyers are needed at every stage of community development. With an innovative legal curriculum, the immersive Urban Fellows program, and an ideal downtown Atlanta location, Georgia State is poised to prepare the next generation of practitioners.
