To be admissible to the LLM programs, you are required to hold a first professional law degree. For international applicants, the requirement may be fulfilled by an LLB or its equivalent from an accredited or comparably recognized law school outside the United States. For domestic applicants, a JD is required.

Official transcripts, if international, transcripts should be translated into English and evaluated by an international transcript evaluation service
Score reports for the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) if English is not your first language.
On-Campus LLM applicants who achieve a score of 85 or better on the TOEFL iBT or an IELTS overall band score of 6.5 or better will be considered for admission without an oral interview. Applicants with a TOEFL score of 79-84 will be considered for admission and required to complete an oral interview via the internet or in person as part of the application process.

The School of Law offers a suite of LLM programs that are global, flexible and dynamic. Whether it's unlocking the mysteries of the US legal system, working side by side with US lawyers, honing your expertise in a particular field of law or qualifying for a US bar examination, the Northeastern LLM helps lawyers achieve their personal and professional goals. The On-Campus LLM offers a rigorous curriculum that will provide you with a comprehensive foundation in legal theory and practice as well as the freedom to explore and refine your career interests. All students participate in nine months of classroom instruction, an additional three-month co-op is available to qualified students. Northeastern Law provides countless opportunities to dive into the complex challenges associated with protecting and promoting human rights. You can take human rights courses taught by faculty renowned for their scholarship and advocacy, participate in specialized clinics, take advantage of co-ops across the globe and collaborate with the Program on Human Rights and the Global Economy (PHRGE) to promote human rights, particularly economic, social and cultural (ESC), in the United States and beyond.
