The Common Law Section's faculty is composed of a wide range of experts, many of whom are renowned as leaders in their respective fields. Through their scholarship, many of our professors have contributed to the transformation of Canada's legal systems as well as the ways in which law is practiced, taught and conceived. <br>As a global and national leader in a variety of fields, Common Law offers specializations in Dispute Resolution, Environmental Law, International Trade, Business and Human Rights Law, Social Justice and Technology Law, Public Law and Aboriginal Law. The Centre for Law, Technology and Society has helped to solidify the law school's position as the leading Law and Technology Faculty in the country. uOttawa also provides one of the richest sets of course offerings in the world in International Law. We are also home to the internationally renowned Human Rights Research and Education Centre. Furthermore, we are the national leader in Environmental Law and home to the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law.<br>Reflecting Canada's bilingual and trijuridical legal system (civil law, common law, aboriginal law), as well as its location in Canada's Capital, the Faculty of Law offers graduate programs leading to a master's degree and a doctoral degree in Law.<br><br>The graduate studies in law are a joint endeavour of the Common Law and Civil Law Sections. We welcome law graduates from both legal systems and from countries around the world. Courses are offered in English or in French, and occasionally in both languages. Students may readily complete their graduate studies while learning something of Canada's other legal and linguistic traditions.<br>The programs are offered in English and in French, and sometimes in a combination of both. In accordance with University of Ottawa Policy, examinations, assignments and the research paper or thesis may be written in either English or French. The programs are governed by the general regulations in effect for graduate studies.
