3 Letters of Recommendation
Transcripts (in English) from all colleges and universities attended. All unofficial copies of transcripts and scores can be uploaded to your online application for S&T to review. Upon arrival on campus, you must request that an official copy of your transcript(s) to be sent to us directly from your previous university's registrar's office and all official scores reported directly from the respective testing agency. Once we receive the official documents, we will verify them. If there are any discrepancies between the unofficial documents you submitted, Missouri S&T will withdraw your admission and you will not be allowed to apply to S&T in the future.
GRE and/or GMAT test scores. S and T's GRE Test Center Code is 6876 / GMAT test code is RWQ-TL-8

Applicants who have received a degree from a United States university will also be exempt from providing English test scores. Students applying for a graduate degree program at S&T must meet one of the minimum scores:
TOEFL: 80, IELTS: 6.5
Be currently enrolled in a BS engineering program at Missouri S&T
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Be one year away from graduation (excluding the semester the student is currently enrolled)
Have a minimum 3.5 GPA in the engineering courses in their major

Missouri S&T's Ph.D. degree in mining engineering prepares students for careers in academia, consulting and industry. You will be mentored by leading experts in mining engineering and work with unique research facilities that will provide you the opportunity to conduct novel research in mining and related areas. <br>The need for materials to support our way of life has never been higher.<br>As the world transitions to green energy systems, the projected demand for critical minerals such as rare earth elements, lithium, cobalt and copper will increase in the near future. Mining engineers can choose from a variety of exciting careers such as frontline production supervisors, technical engineering support, safety and health professionals, and environmental and sustainability professionals.<br>The mining engineering program in the department of mining & explosives engineering offers the graduate certificate, master of engineering (M.E.), master of science (M.S.), doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) and doctor of engineering (D.E.) degrees in mining engineering. The M.S. with thesis and Ph.D.degrees require research components for program completion. The core research strengths include surface mining methods and heavy mining machinery, mine ventilation and mine atmospheric control, explosives engineering, sustainable development and mine optimization, rock mechanics and ground control, minerals, coal and materials processing, minerals and energy economics, and underground mining methods and equipment. Graduate students in any of these programs must consult the graduate degree requirements in mining engineering, the graduate catalog of Missouri S&T and their respective advisors.
