You must submit an official record of academic performance for the equivalent of 9th, 10th, and 11th grades under the US system. All official documents must be accompanied by a verified English translation if the original document is not in English. Include any certificates, diplomas, or examination results marking the completion of secondary education or preparation for higher education (i.e., O- or A-level or IB exam results).
Applicants should typically receive a minimum of 100 total for the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) with preferred sub-scores of 26 (Reading), 26 (Listening), 22 (Writing), and 25 (Speaking). A score of 7.0 or higher on each band is expected on IELTS. A composite score of 120 or higher is expected for the DET with preferred.

Materials science and engineering is a gateway to a variety of careers, from biotech to space exploration. Hopkins offers many opportunities for cross-disciplinary research through the Institute for NanoBioTechnology, the Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute, and our renowned School of Medicine. Youll work in small, collaborative groups with faculty and graduate students with the option to focus your studies on the increasingly important disciplines of biomaterials and nanotechnology.<br>Materials science and engineering is a dynamic and versatile field of study and a gateway to a wide variety of careers, from biotech to space exploration.<br>The Department of Materials Science and Engineering offers a program leading to the Bachelor of Science Degree. The B.S. for the Materials Science and Engineering degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, (https://www.abet.org/). The student must meet the general university requirements for the chosen degree as well as the departmental requirements and must complete the program approved by the student's advisor.<br>An anticipated individual program of study designed to meet the university and department requirements for the B.S. degree, as well as to reflect the student's interest, should be filed as early as possible during the student's residence. The faculty advisor's signature is required on all course registration and course change forms. As changes are made in the program, it shall be the student's responsibility to see that a revised program is filed with the advisor. Each student must have an approved program on file no later than the semester before they expect to graduate.
