In order to be successful in this program it is recommended that a student have:

A bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an approved college or university in engineering or one of the physical sciences;
A minimum B level scholarship overall or over the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate credit;
A minimum score of 300 on the Graduate Record Examination.

Applicants must meet the following minimums on the TOEFL or IELTS. TOEFL (iBT): all sub-scores greater than or equal to 18 OR IELTS: all sub-scores greater than or equal to 6.0.

The PhD in Materials Science - Science track is part of a program offered jointly by the three University of Alabama system campuses. In this program, faculty members from various departments on each campus constitute the materials science faculty. Students pursue topics related to the science of materials, placing special emphasis on materials processing, the production of new materials, and on the application of materials to the needs of technology.<br>Welcome to the Materials Science Program at UAH. We offer a Ph.D degree through the Joint Tri-Campus Materials Science Ph.D Program and an M.S. degree at UAH.
