We look at GRE scores in making admission decisions (especially the quantitative score). There is no minimum score required. All applicants should have a B.S. degree from an accredited college with at least a 3.0 undergraduate GPA (preferably >3.2). Successful applicants will have high scores on the GRE test (especially the quantitative score), and two or more letters of recommendation are required. The personal statement is extremely important in the selection of applicants, because it is a chance for the applicant to describe his or her goals. For research degrees in enables us to see if there is a good match in his or her interest with available funded projects. The minimum paper-based TOEFL score is 550. The minimum computer-based TOEFL score is 213, The minimum IBT-internet based TOEFL is Writing 22, Speaking 23, Reading 21, Listening 17, An acceptable IELTS score is bandwidth 7.

A research intensive department, Materials Science and Engineering students are encouraged to participate in funded research projects alongside faculty members. State-of-the-art equipment exposes students to the preparation and evaluation of newer types of ceramics, metals, polymers, and composites required in aerospace advanced engine, biotechnology, photosics, and electromagnetic applications. Energy is a critical area of research given the ever growing energy needs of society, Battery science and technology for applications ranging from cell phones to the Boeing 787. Photovoltaics and other energy conversion are topics of research in the Department.
