The Ph.D. program is intended to train students for leadership positions in teaching and research. Entering students who already have a master's degree are admitted directly to the Ph.D. program. Before doctoral degree candidates begin the second semester of study, they must take a qualifying examination administered by their Special Committee. Our Ph.D. Program is interdisciplinary, which allows our students to take advantage of a wide variety of research opportunities both in ECE and across campus.
