The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (B.S.Com.E.) degree emphasizes concepts related to electronics and the computer engineering field.
Students majoring in computer engineering with an interest in a foreign language may choose to earn dual degrees through the International Engineering/Science and Language Program. The mission of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is to provide a modern, high quality educational experience for all of our students. We provide the knowledge and principles on which electrical engineering and computer engineering are founded in order to graduate engineers who are technically competent, creative, articulate, and socially aware.
Based on both the mission statement and the primary objective of the Department, the objectives of the electrical engineering and the electrical and computer engineering programs are to provide graduates with:
The knowledge to meet employer needs should they choose a professional career, and
The knowledge to engage in advanced study should they choose to continue their education.
Learning Outcomes
Students earning a bachelor of science in computer engineering will be able to:
Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program's discipline.
Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program's discipline.
Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
