国际学生入学条件
All applicants for the MS or PhD program in Electrical and Computer Engineering whose BS degree is not from an ABET accredited university are required to submit scores of the general test of Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Admission to this program is contingent upon admission to the Graduate School.
All students, who have their degrees from a country where English is not the native language, must provide the TOEFL examination results.
All applicants must submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. In addition, applicants must have a graduate (MS) grade point average (GPA) of 3.6 or above and must be have completed an undergraduate major or substantial specialized work in his/her proposed doctoral major field. Students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or above may apply for direct admission to Ph.D. program. Students with less than a 3.5 undergraduate GPA must complete a master's degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering prior to consideration for admission to a Ph.D. program.
Automatic control systems are universally critical for design, operation, and management of traditional and emerging technologies, including vehicles, medical devices, renewable energy systems, smart grids, among many others. This concentration area will develop a student's knowledge, skill, and expertise in modeling, analysis, design, and hardware and software implementations of control systems. The Wayne State University College of Engineering offers two doctoral degrees:Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Engineering, Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering. A minimum of 90 graduate credits (semester) beyond the baccalaureate degree is required for the completion of the Ph.D. program. The division of these credits will be basically as follows: At least 12 credits of coursework in the major (not including directed study or research credit). At least one minor composed of six or more credits elected within or outside the major department (no minor is required for students entering the Ph.D. Program in Fall 2012 or after). Two credits of Doctoral Seminar (ECE 9997). Thirty additional credits of coursework, pre-dissertation research and directed study. Thirty credits earned in four consecutive Candidate Status semesters after candidacy has been approved.

The Ph.D. program in electrical engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is aimed at preparing its graduates to become leaders in research and development in industry, academia, as well as government organizations. Under guidance of faculty members, Ph.D. students do research in areas such as micro-/nano-electronic and photonic devices and systems, circuits and system-on-chip, power systems and sustainable energy, signal/image processing and communication, intelligent control and robotics, electric vehicle and e-mobility. Students work in research labs in ECE Department equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation. Depth and breadth of studies is further enhanced by research seminars featuring invited speakers who are leading experts in industry and academia.
