Most candidates applying to the EAS PhD program will have a master of science degree in a supporting field. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be accepted with a bachelor of science degree.
Admissions criteria for the PhD program include GRE scores, undergraduate and graduate GPA, and a TOEFL score (if required). Significant weight is also placed on reference letters, the applicant's statement of purpose, and professional experience. Generally, a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a scale of 4.00) is required or a minimum graduate GPA of 3.25.
Statement of purpose: 300 - 600 words. Indicate your graduate study objectives, research interests and experience, and business or industry experience if applicable. If you are applying for a teaching or research assistantship, include any special skills or experience that would assist in assistantship decisions.
Official transcripts: from all post-secondary institutions attended (regardless if a credential is earned or not).
Official GRE score: sent directly from ETS, copies/scans not accepted.Not required but recommended, especially for assistantship consideration.
3 letters of recommendation: from persons in the field of your academic major at the institution most recently attended or from supervisors familiar with your recent job performance.

Applicants whose native language is not English should have a minimum paper-based TOEFL score of 550, a computer-based TOEFL of 213 or an internet based TOEFL of 79. IELTS band score of 6.5.

Computer science deals with the theoretical foundations of computational methods for information creation and manipulation. Research opportunities span a wide range of theoretical and application topics including advanced software engineering, artificial intelligence, computer networks, computer vision and graphics, databases, data science, distributed algorithms and systems, formal methods, informatics, human-computer interaction, machine learning, mobile computing and cyber security, optical networks, programming languages, real-time systems, robotics, and wireless networks.
