By applying the unique approaches and disciplines of engineering to the fundamental sciences, such as chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and mathematics, chemical engineers solve a wide range of problems to benefit society. Chemical engineers are the key professionals involved in the discovery, development, and production of food, fuels, pharmaceuticals, clean water, and the modern materials used in electronics, apparel, and construction. Students can pursue a dual degree program leading to both the bachelor of science in chemistry and the bachelor of chemical engineering degrees in four years by carefully selecting their technical electives and taking a small number of additional courses needed to complete the chemistry program.
