All international applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency English language proficiency may be demonstrated by one of the following -
TOEFL iBT - minimum score of 79.
IELTS - minimum score of 6.5.
Cambridge English Advanced - 176-184.
Pearson Test of English minimum score of 53.
Eiken Test of English completion of level Pre1.
Applicants who have attended a secondary school or post-secondary school where the language of instruction is English may be exempt from submitting an English proficiency examination depending upon their English grades AP IB O level A-level GCSE American Curriculum and their SAT and or ACT scores if submitted Such exemptions are determined on a case-by-case basis.

If you are an ocean engineering major interested in deepening your knowledge of marine biology, URI offers a unique opportunity to combine your B.S. in Ocean Engineering with a B.S. in Marine Biology, and complete both majors in five years.<br><br>This program provides the opportunity to explore these two exciting fields in a challenging five-year program that will most likely include some summer study. If you are interested, please work closely with the Coordinator of the Marine Biology Program and your advisor in Ocean Engineering to determine how to arrange your schedule to accommodate the requirements for both majors.
