The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at SMU offers two doctoral programs, one in Electrical Engineering and one in Computer Engineering. These research-intensive programs allow students to work closely with faculty advisors on solving challenging problems. Students in the doctoral program frequently publish their research in top publications in their fields.<br><br>Lyle's Ph.D. in Computer Engineering program is taught by exceptionally qualified faculty whose own research projectsin cybersecurity, electronic design automation, VLSI test, computer arithmetic algorithms, and disaster and fault tolerance, to name only a fewtouch every aspect of Computer Engineering's future. Doctoral students are expected to attain and demonstrate a mastery of the discipline and to significantly advance the state of knowledge through an original research effort.
