High school graduate: If you are currently in high school, we just need to see your 9-11 (or equivalent) grade transcripts for an admission decision. However, you must graduate from an approved high school (or equivalent) prior to starting classes at CMU.
To ensure your success at CMU, you must provide proof of proficiency in English
Submit official transcripts from your high school. If you have college credits, also submit transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended.
TOEFL: 550 PBT/79 IBT for regular admission.
IELTS: 6.5 for regular admission.
General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or General Certificate of Education (GSE): A score of A or B on the English Language Exam.
SAT: Evidence-based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 520.
ACT: English score of 21.
ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112 for regular admission.
International Baccalaureate (IB): A grade of 5 in English at the Higher Level is required for regular admission.

Our Mechanical Engineering major is designed to prepare you with knowledge, problem-solving ability, and hands-on skills to enter careers in the design, installation, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, technical sales, or maintenance of mechanical systems. Mechanical engineers make significant contributions in supporting engineering design, testing, production, research, and development operations in a wide variety of industrial, aerospace, and government organizations.<br>Get both theoretical and practical experience in our ABET accredited mechanical engineering program.<br><br>Youll learn how to apply your advanced math knowledge. Youll conduct experiments. Youll gain the skills needed to take any project from idea to reality.<br><br>You can join our mechanical engineering majors in designing and building innovative products such as a hotel to preserve local bees, a motorized cooler that follows its owner, or an automatic fishing pole. You can help faculty members develop new low-cost, renewable fuels or improve solar energy efficiency.
