UTSA's Mechanical Engineering degree is ABET accredited. In this program, youll gain exposure to the areas of design and manufacturing, mechanics and materials, and thermal and fluid systems. Youll learn how to apply these subjects toward many industries including aerospace, automotive, biomedical, energy (wind/solar/petrochemical), heating and cooling systems, machinery, materials, microelectronics, robotics, structures and more. Who knows, maybe youll work on designing the next Honda engine or discover a new way to capture sustainable energy.
UTSA is all about your success. Our experiential learning initiative takes what you learn in the classroom and helps you apply it to real life. As a student in the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID), you will explore, engage and reflect on your experiences to launch your career in a global society. The KCEID Student Success Center is a one-stop resource to help you achieve your academic, personal and professional goals. Receive tutoring, find internships, connect with industry professionals for job opportunities, and enhance your professional development skills through the center's comprehensive programming.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME). The program is currently accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. Individuals enrolling in this degree program are given the opportunity to develop a strong background in Engineering Science and to learn the analysis, design, and synthesis tools necessary to contribute in traditional and emerging areas of technology.
The department has excellent laboratory facilities where students receive hands-on instruction from faculty members. Computer-aided design (CAD) facilities, including state-of-the-art workstations, are routinely used. Some classes are taught by adjunct faculty from local industries, giving students the opportunity to interact with engineering professionals engaged in relevant engineering practice.
