Our doctoral degrees allow students to explore their love of science, engineering and computing in a supportive academic environment. Doctoral students work with faculty members who have completed extensive research in their fields. Our Kansas City location gives you access to thriving industry, and our campus partnerships allow for experimentation across diverse academic endeavors. Over 85% of our research is done in partnership with the UMKC School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Dentistry, School of Pharmacy and College of Arts and Sciences – all of which offer world-class programs. The Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs offer doctorate study through UMKC's Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program. Interested students select engineering as a discipline when applying for admission into the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program.
