Hold a four-year honours undergraduate engineering degree in a relevant field from an accredited engineering program at a Canadian university, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Minimum overall academic standing of a B (GPA: 3.0 on a 4.3 scale or 73 to 76 per cent), with a minimum B in the last two full-time years (four semesters) of undergraduate work or equivalent. B+ is preferred for MASc applicants.
IELTS - 6.5 for most programs. Applicants to Health Sciences, MA in Education, EdD, MBAI or MFDA programs require a minimum score of 7.
TOEFL IBT- 83 to 87 for most programs. Applicants to Health Sciences, MA in Education, or EdD programs require a minimum score of 92 to 93. Applicants to the MBAI and MFDA programs require a minimum score of 100.
Minimum sub-scores for all programs:
Listening - 20 ,Reading - 20 ,Speaking - 19 ,Writing - 20
TOEFL (paper-based) 560 for most programs. Applicants to Health Sciences, MA in Education, or EdD programs require a minimum score of 580.

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) and Master of Engineering (MEng) programs in Mechanical Engineering allow a student to study all of the main areas associated with mechanical engineering. In addition, the programs feature three primary fields of study in which students can focus and address key technical areas of the future that are expected to be in high demand by employers: Design, Energy and Thermofluids Engineering, and Mechatronics and Manufacturing Engineering. Please see below for further details regarding the fields of study.<br><br>Alternatively, a student can choose to cover many facets of the broad discipline of mechanical engineering. Topics can vary widely from robotics, automation and mechatronics, mechanics, controls and computer-aided design, to thermofluids and heat transfer. Mechanical engineering is often interdisciplinary, overlapping significantly with such disciplines as electrical, computer and software engineering. Opportunities exist for graduate students to explore these other disciplines.<br>The objective of the MASc program in Mechanical Engineering is to prepare students for careers in research, development and advanced engineering. Graduates of the program will be able to work as engineers in research and development or other areas in advanced technology companies or government agencies, or continue their education and pursue a PhD degree. The objectives of the MASc program are achieved through a combination of course work, supervised research, a research seminar and a research thesis.
