The Department of Architectural Engineering accepts online applications only through the Graduate School Online Application.

The following are required items that must be uploaded as part of the Graduate School Application.

Statement of Intent
The statement of intent is used to decide who will review your application for admission and whether Penn State architectural engineering is a good match for you. The statement of intent is also considered in funding decisions.

R'sum
Applicants are encouraged to include: education, research experience, professional experience, military experience, publications, conference attendance, honors/awards/scholarships, professional society memberships, leadership roles, etc.

Three Letters of Recommendation
Applicants must enter the contact information for three recommendation references. The references will then be electronically notified by the Graduate School regarding how to submit/upload their individual reference evaluation form and reference letter to the applicant's application.
GRE Scores for M.Eng. Applicants
GRE scores are not required for admission to the M.Eng. degree program. However, if students admitted to the M.Eng. program switch to the M.S. or Ph.D. degree programs, they will be required to submit GRE scores.
Transcripts
Copies of transcripts, degree/study certificates, and diplomas in the language of instruction from all institutions attended, both undergraduate and graduate, should be uploaded.
International applicants must take and submit scores for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), with the exceptions noted below. The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 550 for the paper-based test, 213 for the computer-based test, or a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the Internet-based test (iBT). Applicants with iBT speaking scores between 15 and 18 may be considered for provisaaional admission, enrollment, and, if necessary, remedial course work.
