The civil and environmental engineering department is dedicated to helping students change the world around us. Civil and environmental engineering is considered to be the oldest engineering field. It is a broad discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure. Examples include buildings, roads, airports, railroads, bridges, water and wastewater treatment plants, landfills and dams and canals. Civil and environmental engineering solves societal problems on a daily basis. At Tennessee Tech, our focus is on transportation engineering, construction materials, environmental engineering, water resources, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering and structural mechanics.
