Study the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Heavy Vehicle Operator) to get into the commercial road transport industry with the skills and knowledge to safely and competently operate heavy rigid vehicles or heavy combination vehicles. You will learn how to: Transport freight , Safely carry out essential checks, Apply loading, restraint, and unloading principles , Perform driving manoeuvres , Plan comprehensive routes and Use navigation technology. During the course students will have the opportunity to gain Class 2 through to Class 4 heavy vehicle licences as well as other licence types associated with the industry. This programme is run in partnership with the Road Transport Industry and focuses heavily on work experience and gaining knowledge through practical experiences. This qualification does not permit the holder to drive a motor vehicle on New Zealand roads without a current relevant driver licence issued by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA). Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to be employed as heavy vehicle combination or heavy rigid vehicle drivers.
