Civil engineers work in the design, construction and maintenance of the natural and physically built environment. These projects are wide-ranging and include building projects like roads, dams, bridges, water supply systems, tunnels and so on. Students can specialise in water and waste or structures. You'll deal with water treatment, water supply, drainage and wastewater. Students can also study the design and building of a range of structures.<br><br>The demand for Civil Engineers is very high. This is a result of New Zealand's growing population which increases the demand for new infrastructure. The damage caused by the Canterbury and Kaikoura earthquakes has also increased the demand for civil engineers.
