Applicants must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited program in engineering, physics, chemistry, applied mathematics or other appropriate program of study. Applicants with a different undergraduate degree may be required to complete prerequisites. Applicants should have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Some programs require higher GPAs for admission. In some cases, applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be admitted on a conditional basis.
All students are encouraged to submit proof of English proficiency for Admission into the University of Dayton. Proof of English proficiency can be submitted in one of the following ways:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 80 on the Internet-based (IB) test is required for full admission.
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A minimum band score of 6.5 is required for full admission.
- International Test of English Proficiency (ITEP). A minimum overall score of 4.5 is required for full admission.
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE). A minimum score of 60 is required for full admission.
- Duolingo English Test (DET): A minimum score of 105 is required for full admission.
- Some graduate programs may require a higher proficiency score for full admission.

As a computer engineering graduate student, you will work with top scholars and industry leaders to develop your area of expertise. University of Dayton faculty are nationally recognized as educators and researchers. Our graduate computer engineering program is a collaboration between the School of Engineering's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Computer Science.<br><br>The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering employs faculty and research facilities that support advanced research in signal and image processing, high-performance computing, embedded systems and digital electronics. The Department of Computer Science employs faculty and research facilities that support advanced research in database and data mining systems, semantic web technologies, peer-to-peer networking and cloud computing, programming languages, human-computer interaction, graph algorithms and graph theory.<br><br>A minimum of 30 semester hours.<br><br>At least 9 semester hours in electrical engineering core courses approved by advisor/advisory committee<br>At least 9 semester hours in a specialization area: computing systems, sensors and devices, or signals and systems<br>6 semesters hours:<br>Two project-based learning courses from an approved list - OR - <br>Complete the thesis option
