To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%Completion of the following required Grade 12 U courses (minimum grade of 60% in each): English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)One of Chemistry (SCH4U) or Biology (SBI4U)Note: Applicants with a bachelor's degree from an accredited university will not be considered for admission to the 4-year degree program.An overall average of 70% is required for consideration. Due to competition, the average needed for admission can fluctuate each year (it depends on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available). The grade range at the top of this page represents the average required in previous years.Applicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma must present grades of 4 or higher in 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level subjects, including prerequisite subjects, and a total score of 28 or higher (bonus points will be accepted).

The Occupational Health and Safety degree program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), the only one of its kind in Canada, teaches you how to make workplaces as safe as possible. You’ll help prevent injury and illness by anticipating, evaluating and controlling physical, biological and chemical hazards. You’ll also develop and launch initiatives that improve health and safety in work environments across every sector. You’ll gain experience with a paid co-op option, active training performing lab tests and analysis, workplace visits and an opportunity to develop an independent research project. Experiential learning opportunities: Co-op available.After you graduate, you can apply for the examination and certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST). With additional work experience and an exam, you may choose to pursue registration as a Registered Occupational Hygienist through the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists. You can also apply for certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) through the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.
