Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
It is a requirement that the bachelor's degree be in engineering and relevant to the applicant's proposed major, with no more than 25 per cent of subjects failed.
Academic IELTS- 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0, or TOEFL- paper based- 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based- 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21, or AE5- Pass, or C1A/C2P- 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

This major allows students to experience the possibilities that arise through the convergence of telecommunications and electronic systems. 5G networking, the Internet of Things (IoT), photonic and advanced transmission systems as well as advanced signal processing techniques enable new models of communication that far exceed previous capabilities. All of these areas are underpinned by recent developments in microelectronics and an increasing emphasis on cybersecurity. In this major, students start with a foundation of communication protocols and wireless sensor networks (for IoT). From there,they can choose from a range of subjects including next generation cellular networks, software defined networks, cybersecurity, adaptive signal processing and fabrication of sensors and components for IoT networks.<br><br>This course provides an opportunity at master's level for professional engineers to deepen the knowledge and skills gained in their undergraduate studies while expanding their managerial and professional engineering knowledge.<br><br>The course follows an integrated approach to professional practice through disciplinary and professional engineering subjects, subjects relating to the chosen major, an independent project, and a set of electives.<br><br>This course allows students to choose a program of study that deepens the body of knowledge acquired in their first degree as well as expands knowledge boundaries into policy and engineering management areas. It also provides an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and gain practical skills by undertaking an independent project in the field of their major.
