English Language Requirements
This degree requires an IELTS (Academic) of 6.0, with no individual band less than 5.5, or a PTE Academic score of 50, with no score lower than 42 or equivalent.
You can also meet the General Entry Requirement for this course with the following qualifications or prior studies:
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Overall score of 24
Completion of an equivalent AQF Certificate IV or above
Complete or incomplete (minimum 25 credit points) of previous tertiary study at Bachelor level or higher
TOEFL IBT-72 (no skill below: Reading 10, Listening 9, Speaking 16, Writing 19)

Whether youre looking to embark on a career at sea or take the next step into the maritime industry, an Ocean Seafaring degree is the gateway to working aboard vessels around the globe.<br>The Australian Maritime College's Bachelor of Applied Science (Nautical Science) degree will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to safely manage and operate any type of vessel in the merchant fleet. Our program integrates professional short courses and training at sea so that you will not only obtain a Bachelor's degree, but also a Certificate of Competency issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).<br>You will learn about navigation, vessel handling, cargo and passenger transport, vessel management, marine legislation and shipboard safety. Our program is also fully compliant with the training and educational requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention, as amended in 2010).<br><br>Learning Outcomes<br>1 Manage ship navigation, cargo handling and storage using nautical concepts and principles to ensure ship safety<br>2 Assess and solve nautical problems in standard operational and emergency scenarios, by analysing and interpreting a range of data sources and meeting stakeholder requirements<br>3 Ensure the safe operation of a ship and care for its people by applying management theories and leaderships skills required as a ship Master<br>4 Execute Professional stewardship through the use of ethical codes and regulatory frameworks to maintain the safety of persons and the protection of the environment
