As our programmes are taught and assessed in English, applicants must be able to prove their level of English language ability as part of the application process. This should be shown through one of the following means - You are from a majority English speaking country or have completed a qualification equivalent to a UK degree from a majority English speaking country as defined by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI). You have successfully completed a degree from a UK University within the last two academic years where all study has taken place in the UK or at an overseas campus in a non-majority English speaking country as defined by the UKVI, then we will consider this on a case-by-case basis. Our decision will be made on a variety of factors including length of study, level of study, subject relevance, nature of degree and time since completion (no longer than two academic years). You have passed one of the following English Language Tests within the last 2 years at the levels indicated (we will need to verify the results of the test and as such you will need to upload your original certificate as part of the application process). IELTS Academic 6.0 with no score lower than 5.5. TOEFL iBT 79 (including reading 18, listening 17, speaking 20, and writing 21).

Mechanical engineering is essential to addressing modern challenges that require advanced technical solutions and new, innovative ways of thinking. This MEng Mechanical Engineering degree is the extended version of the BEng Mechanical Engineering course. Youll receive a grounding in the core disciplines of mechanical engineering in the first two years of your MEng Mechanical Engineering degree. When you get to the point of taking optional degrees, this will help you make informed decisions.<br><br>In Year 1, students work alongside peers from other science and engineering disciplines and have access to mechanical labs, electrical engineering labs, chemical labs, and physics labs. This provides fundamental lab skills as well as multidisciplinary teamworking skills which will be crucial as the degree progresses and becomes increasingly specialised. <br><br>Youll progress into practical workshop sessions in the lab in your second and third year. Here, youll learn about fluids, design and manufacturing, dynamics, and thermodynamics all core principles of mechanical engineering. <br><br>Your fourth and fifth year in your MEng Mechanical Engineering course will include staff-supported individual and group projects, which will help you step into a career as a mechanical engineer. Youll follow your own path through a wide range of optional courses designed to develop knowledge and skills in specialist engineering subjects.
