Recent secondary education
Meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent
AND
Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), and achieved a competitive Selection Rank (ATAR), or
Complete secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE, or
Complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points
Applicants who have not achieved the Selection Rank required for automatic selection may be selected for any remaining places based on the grades of their year 12 subjects.
OR
Higher education study
Complete or partly complete a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution, or
Complete at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at undergraduate level or above, or
Complete the Associate Degree in Engineering at the University of South Australia
OR
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Complete an award from a registered training organisation at Certificate IV or above
OR
Work and life experience
Qualify for Special Entry, or
Complete a 12-month UniSA Foundation Studies program or equivalent, or
Hold completed secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE obtained more than 2 years in the past
In addition to meeting academic entry requirements, international students who speak English as a second or additional language must also meet the University's English language entry requirements. The minimum language requirements for this program are-
IELTS total [6.0] , IELTS reading [6.0] , IELTS writing [6.0]
TOEFL PBT - 550 with TWE of 4.5
TOEFL IBT - 60 with Reading and Writing not less than 18

Professionally accredited by Engineers Australia, our civil engineering degrees offer a huge amount of study flexibility.In your studies you will learn to develop critical infrastructure such as bridges, buildings, airports, roads, railways and water systems. You will become equipped to work creatively and sustainably in the design, construction and maintenance of critical infrastructure.Civil engineers give us the infrastructure that supports our lives. They design, construct and maintain our bridges, airports, roads, railways, water and waste supply.This degree is strongly hands-on. In our state-of-the-art facilities you will apply engineering theory to real-world challenges. In your final year, you will complete a major industry-related research project and a design project.In your first year you will develop a strong, general foundation in engineering. You’ll then move into your civil engineering major. In third year you have the option to choose a minor in Environmental Management or Transportation. At least half of your honours year involves a major project. Projects are generally supported by industry clients, or based in a research centre like our Centre for Water Management & Reuse. In the compulsory 12-week industry placement you’ll get to use the knowledge and skills you’ve learned in a work environment. <br><br>Career outcomes -:<br><br>civil engineer: responsible for the design, construction and testing of physical infrastructure; assesses the impact of large scale projects on the environment <br>geotechnical engineer: advising on ways to guard and maintain structures such as soil and rock formations and groundwater deposits; planning and developing building and construction projects; advising on tools, methods and materials for construction in an area<br>water resources engineer: involved in providing clean water, the disposal of waste water and sewage, and preventing flood damage; responsible for the construction and maintenance of new equipment for managing water resources<br>environmental engineer: protecting the environment by assessing the impact a project has on the air, water, soil and noise levels in its vicinity
