For admission to graduate study, an applicant must have a U.S. bachelor's degree or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree prior to enrollment.
Your Personal Statement should address your academic and research interests, and future career goals as they relate to the graduate program to which you are applying. The statement should include relevant academic/research, professional, and personal experiences that influenced your decision to apply to the graduate program.
Your resume should include details about your education, employment, and internship history, as well as any pertinent research experience. International students in the U.S. on OPT or CPT should include details about their current activities.
You will be required to enter two recommenders on the online application. Recommendations should be from your academic advisor(s), professors, research mentors, etc., who can provide an assessment of your likelihood of success at the graduate level in your field of study.
Transcripts and Degrees must be in English (all post-secondary education, including transcript keys).
Unofficial transcripts should be uploaded to your graduate application.

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences offers the study of Earth's component materials, the development of its structures and surface features, the processes by which these change with time, and the origin, discovery, and protection of its resources-water, fuels, and minerals. Our students use techniques ranging from seismological and satellite-tracking investigations of crustal motions to state-of-the-art geochemical instruments.We encourage college students and graduates with undergraduate degrees in science to apply to our M.S. or Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences program. We encourage working professionals with undergraduate degrees in science to apply to our Professional Master's M.S. in Earth and Environmental Sciences program.Candidates must complete 30 hours of graduate study based on an approved plan of study. A thesis based on original research is usually submitted. This requirement may be waived at the discretion of the candidate's adviser.
