General GPA requirements for all majors is a 2.50 on a 4.00 scale Originals or certified copies of all marked sheets (all years of high school), transcripts, diplomas, leaving certificates, A or O levels, and/or leaving certificates from high school or other academic institutions. TOEFL IBT of 61 or higher, or the paper-based TOEFL of 490 or higher. IELTS of 5.5.

Chemists work in a diversity of fields such as medicinal, biochemical, biotech, nuclear, environmental, pharmaceutical, forensic, agricultural, organic, polymer and scientific writing. Tennessee Tech graduates with chemistry degrees are found all over the world. The pure chemistry concentration is intended to prepare students for both graduate school and a career as a professional chemist. This concentration exceeds the requirements for certification by the American Chemical Society.
