GRE scores. The Chemistry Department is no longer requiring the GRE for admissions. If you would like to submit test scores, you may, but it is not required.
3 letters of recommendation are required, with at least two from faculty in Chemistry or closely related fields.
Your application will be reviewed holistically and individually. We do not have a set of parameters for this reason. However, typically we do prefer to see:
A BS or BA in a related science field
GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
A Statement of Purpose is a 1-2 page essay that generally serves to explain why you are applying to this program.
IELTS- Overall band 6.0 or higher, TOEFL IBT- Internet-Based (IBT): 79, Paper-Based: 550

The Chemistry Education division at the University of North Texas is a specialized degree program that attracts and encourages the integration of chemistry content knowledge, educational research, and theories of how students learn. Chemistry Education Research (CER) often involves methods and principles found not only within the discipline of chemistry itself, but also in educational psychology, science education, and cognitive sciences.<br>Make innovative strides in science with advanced research and educational opportunities in Chemistry.<br>The Ph.D. degree emphasizes independent research in an area of chemistry of your choosing. It also includes advanced coursework that equips you with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of chemistry while preparing you to apply your knowledge to problems at the forefront of science. Collaborations and interdisciplinary research projects are an important and growing feature of our program. Ph.D. degrees are available with primary concentrations in Inorganic, Organic, Physical, or Analytical Chemistry, or in Chemistry Education.<br>The Ph.D. program is grounded in the four traditional fields of analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, but also encompasses emerging interdisciplinary areas such as computational chemistry, materials chemistry, chemical biology, and chemistry education research.<br><br>From designing new optoelectronic or pharmaceutical materials to reducing toxic emissions and the invention of new clean fuels, our combination of internationally recognized faculty members and state-of-the-art facilities has provided alumni with the tools needed to thrive and succeed in the job market.<br><br>Our faculty members are committed to excellence and your success. Theyve been recognized with awards in their fields from the National Science Foundation, the W.M. Keck Foundation, the American Vacuum Society, and the American Chemical Society, among others. They also serve as editors or on editorial boards of major scientific journals and receive national and international recognition for their research expertise.
