课程简介
人们日益关注我们当前生活方式的可持续性及其对环境和资源的影响
Chemistry is a diverse discipline, involving substances in every aspect of life what we see, eat, smell, touch, and taste every day. With an equal emphasis on theory and practical work, Waterloo's Chemistry program prepares you for a growing number of dynamic career options. You could be searching for the roots of crippling diseases, designing cancer-fighting drugs, optimizing sustainable energy storage systems, creating quantum devices for sensing, or developing new computational methods. Fire up the Bunsen burners in one of Canada's top 10 chemistry programs. Youll study everything from organic chemistry and analytical chemistry to polymer chemistry, nanoscience, and more. You can specialize in computational chemistry to study the fundamental properties of atoms, molecules, and reactions using quantum mechanics and thermodynamics. You'll learn to solve chemical problems using computer modelling and simulations. Meanwhile, you can gain 20 months of paid work experience through Waterloo's co-op program, allowing you to explore possible career paths while earning money to help pay for your education. If youre eyeing a career in teaching or academia, hone your instruction skills as a teaching assistant. Grab your lab goggles. With 20 laboratory courses to choose from, youll log more than 200 hours at the bench by the end of your second year. In your final year, you can delve into the world of research with your own year-long project. Get professional credentials. When you graduate with your Chemistry degree, youll be eligible for a professional chemist membership from the Chemical Institute of Canada and be ready to create the future of fuels, plastics, drugs, foods, and other consumer products.

Honours Chemistry, Biobased Specialization is only available in the regular system of study. Biobased chemistry spans the design of chemicals and materials from renewable resources via an integrated approach that combines the expertise of the chemist with the principles of green chemistry and resource management. This specialization provides students with the opportunity to acquire the scientific and professional skills required of chemists in this important and rapidly expanding domain. This specialization is delivered in partnership with the University of Bordeaux, in France, and includes the option of studying at the University of Bordeaux in Year Four fall term. Students interested in this option should consult with the academic advisor and be aware that their cumulative overall average should be higher than 60%. Continuing in Honours Chemistry, Biobased Specialization requires a minimum cumulative overall average of 60% and a minimum cumulative Chemistry average of 60%.
