Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution and evidence of academic potential to complete an advanced degree,
appropriate level of achievement on the Graduate Record Examination General Test (does not apply to international students),
three letters of recommendation,
a personal statement of goals in the field of anthropology,
a writing sample (10,000 words or less),
a curriculum vitae, and
a completed application form.
The Graduate School requires an accumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.
550 for the paper version of the TOEFL
213 for the CVT (Computer version of the TOEFL)
79 for the new internet TOEFL, which is the preferred test as it includes a speaking section
6.5 for the IELTS

Social-cultural anthropology studies the diversity of human societies in time and space, while looking for commonalities across them. It uses a holistic strategy-linking local and global, past and present-to offer various approaches to understanding contemporary challenges.<br>Our department represents a rich discipline engaged in and contributing to issues of significance in diverse human societies.<br>Courses in our department are organized to provide you with key concepts and methods of the field while addressing contemporary issues relevant within the United States and abroad.
