The requirement for admission into the master's program is a B.A. Honours (or the equivalent) with at least high honours standing in anthropology or a closely-related field. Where relevant, previous professional experience will be taken into account in determining an applicant's standing on admission.
IELTS - Overall 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each band).
TOEFL iBT - 86 (20 in reading and listening, 22 in speaking and writing)
TOEFL PBT - overall score of 580.

Anthropologists analyze patterns of social relationships and responses, studying the world's peoples within a cross-cultural, comparative framework. For more than 35 years, our MA: Anthropology program has promoted this exploration of cultural practices and social conditions in diverse contexts throughout the world including Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Oceania while our graduate students have done research in such diverse locations as the Philippines, Thailand, India, South Korea, Ghana, Tanzania, Belize, Mexico, Peru, Greece and Canada. <br><br>A first of its kind in Canada, Carleton University's collaborative PhD with Specialization in African Studies is designed for graduates of the master's programs in the humanities and the social sciences who, through interdisciplinary research, wish to enrich and deepen their training in a particular discipline or area of study by developing expertise in African Studies.<br><br>The collaborative master's program with a Specialization in African Studies is especially designed for Carleton University master's students in participating programs in the Faculties of Arts and Social Science, Public Affairs, and the Sprott School of Business who wish to enrich their training by developing expertise in African Studies through interdisciplinary dialogue.
