Prospective first-year students must:
Have a 3.00 recalculated grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A= 4.00) from a secondary school.
Please note: GPA recalculation occurs during the admissions evaluation process.
Have three years of high school work.
Please note: If you are currently in high school, the University of Arizona needs to see 9–11 grade work. If you have completed high school then Arizona needs to see 10–12 grade work.
Have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
Official college/university transcripts from each international institution you have attended will be required at the time of enrollment.
If you have attended any college or university outside of the United States during or post-high school, unofficial transcripts from each institution you have attended are sufficient for initial evaluation.
Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for initial evaluation. At any time, you may be contacted to submit official/verified transcripts.
Official transcripts showing grades for all years of secondary/high school and official exam results or certificates from your country will be required before you enroll at the University of Arizona.

Students learn content similar to what they will encounter in their first year as undergraduate students and thereby improve their language abilities. They also enroll in a CESL-supported general education course for credit, this course will count toward any major at University of Arizona.
With CESL's English Language Endorsement, students in the U-Track Pathway can fulfill UA's minimum English language proficiency requirement without taking an additional TOEFL or IELTS exam.

The Bachelor of Science in Astronomy is an intensive program that builds on a strong foundation of mathematics, physics and astrophysics. It is designed to prepare students for graduate school to pursue a Ph.D., as well as to gain professional employment in fields such as astronomy and astrophysics. The program and the research prominence of Steward Observatory combine to create a rigorous setting in which students learn from national and international leaders in astronomy, and enjoy access to premier observing conditions, world-class telescopes and a vibrant astronomical community.<br><br>LEARNING OUTCOMES<br>Demonstrate the ability to meaningfully analyze, apply and integrate the principle findings, common applications, current problems, fundamental techniques, and underlying theory of the astronomy discipline.<br>Improve knowledge of principle findings, common applications, current problems, fundamental techniques, and underlying theories in the disciplines of Astronomy and Planetary Science.<br>Employ discipline skills related to the observational techniques, instrumentation, computational methods, and software applications used to investigate modern astrophysical phenomena and problems.<br>Increase the ability to interpret, evaluate, synthesize and communicate about a wide variety of content central to Astronomy and Planetary Science.<br>Develop proficiency with communicating, translating and interpreting fundamental astronomical concepts and research results in oral and/or written formats.<br>Develop quantitative reasoning abilities and data fluency through investigations of a wide variety of astrophysical phenomena and problems.<br>Conduct guided research and/or develop mastery-knowledge of a specific area of the discipline of astronomy.
