课程简介
The scope of the studies in physics - from nuclei to stars - is represented in the curriculum of UD's Physics Department and in student research, as well as in the research of individual faculty members.Students who choose to major or concentrate in physics take courses that prepare them for graduate studies, teaching, medical school, and industry. The low student-to-faculty ratio means students are offered many opportunities to interact with professors in courses, laboratories, and research. In 2013 the department added a dual degree in electrical engineering program with the University of Texas at Arlington. The department also offers Astronomy, Physics & Technology and General Physics I and II as Core Curriculum courses.A completion of a supplemental 12 hours of physics courses beyond the material listed below, a senior thesis, and a research paper at the Texas Section of the American Physical Society meeting or at an alternate professional conference pre-approved by the Department Chair are required to satisfy a bachelor of science degree in physics at the University of Dallas. Physics 2311, 211, 2312, 2112 (General Physics I and II) and 24 advanced credits in Physics that are selected in consultation with the faculty of the Physics Department are required for the B.A. in physics. The courses that compose the 24 advanced credits regularly include Physics 3320 (Quantum Physics), 3120 (Quantum Laboratory), 3326 (Statistical Physics), 3341 (Optics), 3141 (Optics Laboratory), 3363 (Computational Physics), 4423 (Theoretical Mechanics), 4424 (Quantum Mechanics), and 4327 (Electromagnetic Theory).
