The Department of Physics at UIC combines the unique research opportunities of a Research I (very high research activity) university with a commitment to undergraduate education. Our faculty are world-class researchers and dedicated educators, many of whom have won awards recognizing their teaching. Our undergraduates conduct hands-on research, publish in scientific journals, and are mentored by faculty on the cutting edge of their fields.<br><br>Our undergraduate program offers both BA and BS degrees in physics and a Masters of Education track offered in partnership with the College of Education. We also offer a flexible and exciting minor in physics that allows students to also pursue their interest in physics while obtaining a different degree at UIC.<br><br>The Department of Physics offers course work leading to several undergraduate degrees. Whether your goal is to become a research scientist, advance clean energy resources, develop new technologies, or delve into the mysteries of space, our undergraduate programs can be tailored to your interests.<br><br>A very attractive option for many students majoring in another discipline is to pursue coursework for a minor in physics. We offer a large variety of course options for students to tailor the minor in physics to match their particular interests and future career interests.
