In addition, the Physics Department has the following requirements for admission into the Master Program:
1. A B.S. with at least 21 credit hours in physics.
2. A G.P.A of 2.5 for all college work
3. A minimum average of 3.0 in physics courses
Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools from which you have received credit. Printouts or opened copies are not acceptable.
International students and applicants who have earned a degree from a non-English institution must provide proof of English proficiency as follows: minimum of 80 on TOEFL IBT (or 550 paper based), IELTS 6.5.
(MELAB) Michigan English Language Assessment Battery minimum score of 82 for graduate study.
Successful completion of the advanced level of INTO Marshall Academic English level 6 with no grades below B.
Successful completion of INTO Marshall Pathway course ENG 160 or ENG 101A with minimum grade C.
Diploma or degree from an English speaking school – a degree or diploma from an accepted accredited college or university in which the primary language of instruction for the entire institution is English.
You have graduated from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.

The Marshall physics master's degree has been designed to meet the needs of students who are either interested in obtaining an M.S. in Physics as their terminal degree, or who want further graduate study in physics, astronomy, or related fields. A master's degree serves as a bridge to a Ph.D. program. Moreover, graduates with an M.S. in Physics are usually hired into positions which require a high level of problem-solving or technical skills, either in the government or private sector. Within the Master of Science in Physical and Applied Science Program the Department of Physics offers 2 Master of Science degrees: (1) Master of Physics (GS 80) offered by Department of Physics and (2) Master of Physical and Applied Science (GS 60), offered in in cooperation with the Departments of Chemistry, Geology, Computer and Information Technology, and Mathematics – please refer to the correct degree when you apply.
