Physics is the most fundamental and all-inclusive of the sciences and has profoundly impacted all scientific developmentfrom the smallest forms of matter to rapid advances in modern technology to understanding the universe itself. The Loyola University Chicago Department of Physics is home to one of the largest undergraduate-only programs in the United States, with approximately 110 undergraduate majors. The Bachelor of Science in Physics program provides rigorous training in mathematics and the sciences with coursework in statistical thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, quantum mechanics, optics, and electronics. Physics graduates pursue careers in private industry, government labs, economics, and medicine.
