Without the study of computer science, computers themselves are rather bland little processors that follow simple instructions and accurately solve math algorithms really, really, quickly. Computer Science is both the science and art of creating and streamlining programs for these zippy little processors programs that can do amazing things for humanity. Computer science is also about problem-solving, by studying and developing computer software, we explore and analyze techniques for solving problems and expanding human capabilities.<br>The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree offered by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. This accreditation signifies that our computer science program meets ABET's rigorous standards, ensuring quality education and preparation for professional practice or further advanced study in the field. The range of courses offered includes foundational core courses and advanced, exciting and contemporary elective courses. In the senior capstone project, students apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired throughout the program to address a challenging and relevant software problem. The curriculum is designed to provide students with excellent preparation for high-demand jobs in the growing field of computer science, or to pursue further graduate studies.<br> BSCS with a concentration in Cybersecurity offers a focused area of study. The foundation for the concentration is set by courses already part of the major: assembly programming computer architecture, operating systems, data communications, and databases. Additionally, four upper-level electives relevant to the cybersecurity field must be chosen.
