Statement of Purpose, Personal History and Diversity Statement, and Resume or CV (Submitted in the online application). Your Personal History and Diversity Statement requires a minimum word count of 250 words and must be written in narrative (essay) form without duplicating content from your Statement of Purpose.
Three Letters of Recommendation (Submitted online)
Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (Submitted online)
English Language Exam Scores (if applicable): TOEFL Internet-Based Test (IBT) total score of 100, or TOEFL Paper-Based Test (PBT) total score of 600, or IELTS Overall Band score of 7.
Final/Official transcripts will be required for all applicants who are admitted and have indicated their intent to enroll at UC Santa Barbara by submitting a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). UC Santa Barbara reserves the right to require official transcripts at any time during the admissions process, and rescind any offer of admission made if discrepancies between uploaded and official transcript(s) are found.
To be considered for admission, you must have received a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited university prior to the quarter for which you seek admission, and have at least a B average (3.0 GPA) in your undergraduate coursework.

Computer science has produced numerous innovations that have significantly changed our lives, such as personal computers, the Internet, the web, social networks, smartphones, and tablets to name a few. And many others, such as wearable computing and self-driving vehicles, are on the horizon. The Computer Science Department's graduate program is designed for preparing the future leaders of this exciting and dynamic discipline. The Computer Science Department offers an excellent environment for research and education in all major areas of computing. Through research, courses, and special topic seminars, graduate students have a high degree of interaction with the department's excellent, world-renowned faculty, as well as opportunities for interdisciplinary research. Course offerings in the graduate program reflect emphases in the computing foundations, systems, and applications. One of the most important aspects of the program is the wealth of 'hands-on' research opportunities for students. Graduate students have access to specialized research facilities in Bioinformatics, Cloud Computing, Computational Science and Engineering, Computer Architecture, Computer Science Education, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Databases, Foundations and Algorithms, Human Computer Interaction, Intelligent and Interactive Systems, Networking, Operating Systems, Programming Languages, Security, Software Engineering, Wireless Networking, and Vision.
