'Big Data' analytics is one of the fastest growing career paths in IT. Involving the analysis of large and varied sets of data to uncover hidden patterns, insights, correlations and trends, many organisations need talented individuals who can find them valuable information.Salford is a popular UK centre for computer science studies. This industry-designed course provides data analytics knowledge and a hands-on ethos, so you graduate with the practical skills and relevant knowledge ready to build a successful and lucrative career unlocking the value in data.<br><br>Throughout this course you will study a blend of modules from BSc (Hons) Computer Science and BSc (Hons) Mathematics. You will therefore develop good practical programming skills, with key mathematical skills and a good understanding of the potential of data.In year one, you'll study programming, probability and data theory. In year two, this will include AI and data mining, statistics and data warehousing. In year three, you will undertake an individual analytics project and complete additional core modules in operational research and information. When accepting your offer to study on this course, please be aware that not all optional modules run each year. Your tutor will advise you of the available options at the start of term. Whilst we try to try to ensure that you can select your preferred options, we cannot guarantee this.<br><br>When you graduate you will have excellent data analytics skills supported by a large portfolio of practical work which can be used to demonstrate your abilities to prospective employers. While many graduates will work as researchers and analysts in a range of companies, others work as IT consultants or system administrators.<br><br>Our previous graduates have found employment with national companies such as Sainsbury's, Cisco, Microsoft, SIS, Autotrader, HMRC, Ferranti and Civica, as well as local enterprises.
