Throughout this program, you'll explore how different disciplines approach inquiry, examine multiple styles of learning, and incorporate cultural diversity into your teaching. The knowledge and skills you'll pick up will enable you to become an effective educator and work with diverse learners across a variety of settings. UTSA is approved by the State Board for Educator Certification to recommend students for teaching certification in various baccalaureate degree areas. The Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (Early Childhood-Grade 6 Generalist Certification) prepares students to pursue a career as an educator in an early childhood through sixth grade setting. The minimum number of semester credit hours required for the IDS degree with Early Childhood–Grade 6 generalist certification is 125, at least 39 of which must be at the upper-division level .
