Applicants for the MA or MFA degree must complete the online application to the Graduate School, which includes:
Three letters of recommendation
A personal statement of purpose (personal letter of application) detailing why you want to attend this particular program, which faculty you would want to work with, and how you see the program furthering your creative and/or career goals
Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate level studies mailed to UConn from the providing institution
Your transcripts must show that you have met the following criteria:

A cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 for your entire undergraduate career or
A grade-point average of at least 3.0 for your last two undergraduate years or
Exceptional work in your entire final undergraduate year (3.5 or better)
Graduate work with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or better even if the undergraduate grade-point average
Receiving minimum overall scores of 79 (Internet-based test – iBT), 550 ( Old Paper-based test – PBT) or 22/30 on each of the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections (''New'' Paper-based test- PBT) or higher on the TOEFL test.
Receiving a minimum overall score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS
