Required Degree - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or have proof of equivalent training at a foreign institution.
Minimum GPA - 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) Departments may consider GPA of last 60 semester credit hours
Coursework - 18 credit hours in an area related to this graduate degree and at least 12 hours must be at the upper-division level.
Transcripts - Required from all institutions attended, international transcripts must be recorded/translated to English
Credential Evaluation - Required if you have earned university-level credit from foreign institutions. Submit an evaluation of your transcripts from Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) directly from the graduate admission application platform
English Language Proficiency - 550 TOEFL Paper / 79 TOEFL Internet / 6.5 IELTS

The Master of Science in Physics offers a rigorous academic curriculum aimed at creating well-rounded and outstanding graduates who will become leaders in their field.<br>UTSA's Department of Physics and Astronomy offers the 5th largest graduate program of Physics in Texas. This joint program offers graduate students the opportunity to work one-on-one with their advisors in the UTSA Physics faculty and other core scientists from the Southwest Research Institute Space Science and Engineering Division.<br>The Master of Science (M.S.) in Physics and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics programs offer opportunities for advanced study and research designed to prepare students for roles in industry, government, research institutions, or educational institutions.<br>Graduate students will be able to choose from several areas of specialization in experimental and theoretical physics, including condensed matter, advanced materials, nanomaterials, biophysics, laser spectroscopy, astrophysics, theoretical particle physics, cosmology, mathematical physics, and computational physics. The graduate program includes a partnership with the Space Science and Engineering Division of the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) which, through the appointment of selected Adjoint Faculty, provides research opportunities in Space Physics, including space weather, ionospheric-thermospheric-mesospheric physics, plasmaspheric physics, magnetospheric physics, heliospheric physics, cometary and planetary science, space physics instrumentation, and computational space physics.
