The Broadcast Studies Program excels in an experiential learning opportunities in the skills required for video, TV and audio production, editing, broadcasting, directing and camera work. Students gain practical experience by telling the stories of those in the community who are in need while producing shows for GUTV as well as podcasts in audio courses. Many Broadcast students intern at the network affiliates in Spokane, or their hometowns. The Broadcast and Electronic Media Studies major will- Understand the technology and develop the skills required to produce content in a deadline environment for digital platforms. Be adept at articulating the historical context of broadcast media development. Understand the boundaries and protections of media law and the guidelines for ethical journalistic behaviors, and engage in journalistic practices that transcend minimum industry standards. Understand and demonstrate the ways that the digital media can be used to improve the human condition.
