This program leads to the Bachelor of Science degree and the Kentucky Provisional Middle Grades Education (grades 5-9) certificate for teaching English/Language Arts and/or Social Studies. The program requires: A minimum of 44 semester hours of general education course work that includes a biological science course and physical science course. 37-40 semester hours of professional education courses: MGE 275, PSY 310, SPED 330, PSY 421 or PSY 422, LTCY 421, MGE 385, MGE 475 and/or MGE 481 (a methods course required for each area of certification), MGE 490, and EDU 489. A computer literacy course selected from: CIS 141 or LME 448. 200 clock hours of field experiences prior to student teaching. These hours are assigned during the professional education courses. The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences prepares students through applied learning opportunities including experiences in classrooms, research laboratories, clinics, our communities, and across the globe.
