This degree is a Doctorate of Education in the Department of Learning, Teaching & Curriculum with an emphasis in Reading Education. This degree is part of the Literacy Education Program housed in the Department of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum. Understand the fields of literacy, mathematics education, social studies education and science education in terms of research, curriculum, policy, teacher development and student learning. Develop, carry out and report independent research in some area of elementary education. Become outstanding teachersadvisors of college students. Understand the role of service in the university setting. These goals are achieved through a combination of course-work, internships, authentic experiences with research, development and teacher education.The EdD in Learning, Teaching and Curriculum requires completion of a minimum of 72 credit hours above the bachelor's. Students admitted in the program must have a master's in an appropriate field that will contribute up to 30 hours of coursework into the program. The program is designed to be completed in 3 years.
