Hold a valid bachelor's-level professional educator certificate in early childhood education, elementary education (K-6), or collaborative special education (K-6) OR a valid bachelor's-level professional educator certificate in any are of education along with a passing score on the Praxis Teaching Reading test validated for use in Alabama,
Pass the GRE/MAT requirements OR a 3.0 GPA Undergraduate GPA OR be tenured faculty OR have an earned master's degree,
Must have 2 years of successful teaching.
TOEFL iBT - All sub-scores must be greater or equal 18. TOEFL Essentials - All subscores must be greater or equal to 8. IELTS - All sub-scores must be greater or equal to 6.0.

The MEd in Differentiated Instruction with a Reading Specialist Concentration focuses on how to support literacy learning, teach struggling readers, facilitate professional development of reading teachers, and diagnose and respond to literacy challenges encountered by students. Students in this program are required to complete an internship during the entire program. This internship may be completed on the job but students must meet with the faculty advisor during the first semester to plan the internship. This program leads to a Class A Reading Specialist Certification (P-12).<br>The MEd in Differentiated Instruction is an advanced graduate program for certified professional educators seeking to become better equipped to meet the ever-evolving needs of diverse students. The degree has twelve unique concentrations of focus with eleven of the concentrations approved by Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Alabama State Department of Education to lead to a Class A teaching certificate.
